Dreion Biography

Born Da’Dreion Murrell, Dreion is a talented singer-songwriter originally from Omaha, Nebraska. He is a contestant on The Voice Season 26 and was a contestant on American Idol Season 18. The singer now resides in Providence, Rhode Island.

The talented singer-songwriter from Omaha was born on March 30, 1997 , making him 27 years old as of 2024. He celebrates his birthday on the 30th of March each year.

Dreion’s mother, Nakiya Mills, was 17 and still in high school when she had him. His biological father was incarcerated for selling narcotics and was not in his life then, though he is now out and close to him. It was his uncle, Keith Mills, who first got him attached to music. Uncle Keith helped Dreion find stability after rejoining his mom. The Omaha native singer lived with his uncle Keith and his wife, Lisa Mills, for a time.

Dreion is a foster care survivor. He was placed in foster care for about six months around age six, which he describes as a traumatic experience. This background has fueled his passion for foster care reform and advocacy.

Dreion was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska, hence he is American by nationality. When it comes to his ethnicity, he holds an African-American descent.

The talented singer-songwriter Dreion is married to his high school sweetheart, A’Lexis Murrell, who is an author and blogger. They married in 2015 when Dreion was 18 and A’Lexis was 20. In 2018, the Omaha singer welcomed his first child, a daughter named Nori, and in  February 2024, he welcomed his second daughter, Zamarah.

Education

Dreion graduated from Omaha Northwest Magnet High School and later attended the prestigious Berklee College of Music, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Songwriting with a minor in Africana Studies.

The Omaha native, Dreion, has released several songs that showcase his versatility as an artist. Some of his popular tracks include “Let It Rain,”  “I Got a Bad Feeling” “Love Eternal,” and “Happy Face”. His music often reflects his personal experiences and advocacy for foster care reform.

American Idol

He previously auditioned for American Idol Season 18, where he earned a golden ticket to Hollywood. His foster care experience was part of his backstory during the competition.

The Voice Season 26

Dreion (Da’Dreion Murrell) impressed the judges during his blind audition on The Voice  season 26 with a stunning rendition of [ ].

The coaches for Season 26 of The Voice include Reba McEntire, Gwen Stefani, Michael Bublé, and Snoop Dogg. Each coach praised Dreion’s performance and made compelling pitches to have him join their team.
