An investigation by the U.S Intelligence concluded that individuals with connections to the Russian government had spear-phished an attack against Clinton campaign chair John Podesta as part of an operation to prevent Hillary Clinton from winning the 2016 United States presidential election.

She joined the cast of The Circus as a guest beginning October 13, 2019, in the 4th season, episode twelve.  Later, Palmieri was named a permanent host starting on January 10, 2021,  joining Alex Wagner, and John Heilemann.
