Born in Wylie, Texas, Sarah Fuller is an American Soccer player and currently the goalkeeper for Vanderbilt Commodores, and the first woman to ever play and score for Power Five Conference College Football.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and injuries, Vanderbilt Football Team lacked a kicker for its game against Missouri Tigers that took place on November 28, 2020. For that reason, Derek Mason, the team’s coach, resulted in using the goalkeeper as their kicker for the game. She took a 30-yard  second-half opening kick against Missouri Tigers on November 28, 2020.

She helped her team win the first Southeastern Conference (SEC) Championship since 1994 in the 2020 season.

Following her first kick against Missouri Tigers, Sarah fuller was again involved in a game against Tennessee on December 12, 2020. Vanderbilt Football gave Sarah a chance with 1:50 left in the first quarter for their game against Tennessee.  On kicking,  Fuller scored an extra point for her team making it 7-7 tie for her team. She also made another kick in the last quarter with 7:22 left, however, the ball was retrieved. She was handed the ball she kicked in the first  PAT to keep whereas the ball from the second PAT will go to the College Football Hall of Fame, as per Vanderbilt. Vanderbilt lost 42-17 to Tennessee finishing the season with  0-9.

During the Power Five Conference game for Vanderbilt Football Team versus Missouri Tigers, She wore a helmet that was written: “Play Like A Girl” on the back.  Play Like A  Girl is a non-profit that is committed to helping girls realize their potential through sports and get exposure to STEM opportunities.

In a tweet made by Sarah before the power 5 game, it read:

Tomorrow I will be wearing ‘Play Like a Girl’ on the back of my helmet. @iplaylikeagirl is a nonprofit that encourages girls to play sports and get exposure to STEM opportunities.

Derek Mason, Vanderbilt Head Coach: Vanderbilt fires Head Coach

Derek Mason is an American Football coach. He was the head coach for Vanderbilt University Football Team from 2014 to 2020. He was fired on Sunday, November 29, 2020, after a 0-8 loss to Missouri Tigers. Derek had a 27-55 win record in his sixth season at Vanderbilt. Derek Mason led Vanderbilt commodores to two bowl games.

Mason released a written statement on his Twitter account that read  in parts:

It has truly been my honor to have been given the opportunity to teach, mentor, champion and coach hundreds of Vanderbilt young men and one courageous female.

Sarah Fuller North Texas Women’s Soccer

Fuller has signed to join North Texas Women’s Soccer team in 2021. North Texas Women’s Soccer made the announcement on November 13, 2020.
