This photo from the first time our girl was back in my arms on US soil brings with it a flood of emotions and reminds me that I have a complicated relationship with adoption. Yes, it is absolutely a beautiful piece of our family’s story. Yet, it is rooted in immense loss. I can’t fully celebrate the beauty without acknowledging the grief.
Our girl has been deeply loved by two mommas: the one who brought her into this world and the one who has been given the immense privilege to walk with her through it.
We honor the loss and recognize the JOY bestowed on our family because of our magical, bright-eyed, brave little girl
