Moten is a singer and songwriter from Memphis, Tennessee. The singer started singing in church choirs singing with a nationally known Overton Choir. Her breakthrough came after she sang with Michael Bolton at a benefit concert who got her signed with EMI. The singer released her debut album, self-titled, in 1992. Her single Come In Out of the Rain charted on Billboard Hot 100 at No.5.

Moten also opened for  Michael Bolton on tour and went on to tour with other musicians as backup vocals including Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. She provided the lead vocals while touring with Vince Gill.
